How to take the CPS test
Pick a duration and click the big button. There is no separate start button.
- Choose 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. Five seconds is a good first try.
- The timer starts on your first click, and that click counts.
- Click the left button as fast as you can until time runs out. Numbers and the graph update live.
- Input is blocked for one second at the end so a final burst does not start a new run.
- Results are saved in this browser with best scores per mode. Save a result image or share a challenge link.
How CPS is calculated
CPS (clicks per second) is total clicks divided by the duration in seconds. 42 clicks in 5 seconds is 42 ÷ 5 = 8.40 CPS.
The graph plots your clicks over the previous second at each moment, so you can see where you slowed down. The dashed line is your overall average.
- Best 1 s: the most clicks in any one-second window during the run.
- Interval spread: how much the gaps between clicks varied, as a percentage of the average gap. Lower means a steadier rhythm.
- Ranks (Turtle to Machine-like) use cut-offs at 4, 7, 10 and 14 CPS. They are just for fun.
Clicking techniques
Gamers use several techniques to raise CPS. Take breaks; some put real strain on your hand.
- Normal clicking: one finger, the most accurate.
- Jitter clicking: tensing the arm and wrist to vibrate the finger. Tiring and hard on the wrist.
- Butterfly clicking: alternating index and middle fingers on the same button.
- Drag clicking: sliding a finger across the button so it bounces repeatedly; it depends on the mouse surface and switch.
Autoclicker flag and fair scores
Autoclickers click far more regularly than people. Runs with 15+ clicks are flagged as "autoclicker?" and excluded from best scores if they exceed 30 CPS, or exceed 6 CPS with an interval spread under 4%. These are this site’s own rules of thumb.
A mouse with the double-click problem counts one press as two and inflates your score. If your score suddenly jumps, check it with the mouse test, and turn off any rapid-fire macro in your mouse software.
FAQ
What is an average CPS?
There is no authoritative statistic; results vary a lot with duration, technique and mouse. Track your own scores in the same mode. The ranks are just for fun.
Do right clicks count?
No, only left clicks. On phones and tablets each tap counts, including taps from several fingers.
I was flagged as an autoclicker but clicked by hand.
Very regular intervals or more than 30 CPS trigger the flag. It can rarely happen to humans; the run is still listed but not counted as a best score.
Does a double-clicking mouse raise my score?
Yes. One press registers as two, so CPS reads higher than reality. Use the mouse test to check for the double-click problem.
Where are my scores stored?
Your last 50 runs are stored only in this browser. Share links contain just the score and duration.
